I am looking for a polarizer for my upcoming trip. I will be bringing two lens (my only two M lens): 35 ASPH lux and 75 AA cron, i.e. 46 and 49mm. Which one of the following is easier and more practical to use?

1) Kenko Polariser with polariser finder
2) Original Leica Polariser with Swing-out Mechanism (appears to have a small hood attached)
3) Two Identical Heliopan Linear or Cir PLs (I understand they came calibrated with numbers on the ring?)

I bought a "46mm to 77mm step-up ring for RF Polariser" (those with holes for see through from the rangefinderview) but I find it difficult to use because I find it difficult to see through the polariser from the viewfinder. I also cannot attach a hood.

I understand that these polariser are expensive items but if money is no object, which one would you pick?

Many thanks.

I have both those lenses and use the Leica Universal Polarizer with the 46 and 49 MM adaptor rings.

It works very easy. Swing it into position in front of the view finder and rotate to the desired position, then swing it back in front of the lens to its snapped position. Now take the picture.

The Leica works well and is very good quality, I have used it a lot for ocean, glass, or hazy day situations with great success.

I have tried the step ring and 77 MM filter, but never liked its bulk. I also think the Leica Universal is easier to use through the view finder.

I have also tried the old style numbered polarizers that you look through first and find a number, then screw it onto the lens and set the same number. What a pain in the a$$.

My $.02 is get the Leica Universal Polarizer.

Best,

Ray

Thanks Harmsr for your recommendation. I think the Leica one is very practical but I just need confirmation from someone who has used it.

PS Been surfing here quite a bit but that's my first post.
