Polaroid brand film at Wally World?

Pardon me for lifting this from another area, but I've been curious about this film too.

The film used was Polaroid Hi-Definition Plus Color Print 200. I just bought several rolls to try from Walmart at just $.77 a roll.

I've seen this at Wally World several times, and I've been tempted to pick up a bunch of it, but I always just reach instinctively for the green 4-pack at more than twice the price. The photos that were posted had excellent saturation.

Anybody have comments about this? I assume it's a very generic C41 type film. Does Polaroid make it, or just sell somebody else's?

Anybody use this regularly? Any comments on grain, latitude, consistency?

Walgreens also has a cheap Agfa rebrand as thier house film. It's usable and cheap but I'd much rather get a roll of Fuji Supermarket instead. Not quite as cheap but a whole lot better and I don't have to go near Walfart to get it.

I've used it. It's perfectly fine film. Some of the shots in my gallery were done on it. However, once I figured out that Walgreen's is the same stuff I just go there since they do most of my processing anyway.

Incidentally, my first choice is Fujicolor. Walgreen's and my local supermarket carry Fuji in 4 packs with a 50 cent of coupon printed inside the box. Wal-Mart also sells Fujicolor in 4 packs. It costs about 50 cents less than the supermarket but has no discount coupon inside.

I just have an ingrained prejudice against Wal-Mart. It's my last resort for shopping.

Not to bring up politics and ethics and that which divides us, but Wally World is on my personal $#!+list right now. 🙁 I already have concerns about their business practices, but recently as I was walking out (as were several others at the same time) their Nark-O-Matic Perp Detector started beeping and this punk kid wannabe-gestapo agent security twit confronted me.

This kid was a piece of work and arrogant! I'm old enough to be his mother too! I walked back and forth thru the Nark-O-Matic and demonstrated that it did not beep and he could not comprehend that the REAL perp was all the way out in the parking lot. Any idiot who aspires to one day be a moron could see that! Sheesh!

But anyway, sorry to digress. Wally World is soooo convenient and cheap and usually has what I want. I won't go out of my way to shop there, but if I'm there and need something I'll swallow my principles. 🙁

I admit that they do a decent job developing and CD'ing my everyday shots for far less than my fave indie lab charges. I used to prefer Target' for that, but lately they have been doing an inconsistent and usually vile job on the scans.

Oh well, I'll probably pick up a bunch of the Polaroid film and try it, but I won't make a special trip for it. IIRC the house film at Walgreens is quite a bit more than the Polaroid at Wally world.

The Polaroid is fine stuff. Also...if you are fortunate enough to have a Dollar Tree store in your town, they sell ASA 200 24 exposure rolls of Ferrania for $1 each...sold as Solaris. What I've used has been very good. Particularly for $1 a pop.

I've tried the ISO 800 Polaroid film & it seems as good as anything else for snapshots. The local Sam's Club has the best film deal. They're selling short dated (Aug. 2005) Fuji 200 @ $3.48 for six 24 exposure rolls. I put a bunch in the fridge.

I don't think that Wal-Mart Polaroid/Agfa comes in 36 exposure rolls. Walgreen's Agfa does. If you get tired of changing out rolls, 36 exposure variety can be handy.

Also, I think Safeway's house brand is Ferrania/Solaris.

What still puzzles me is CVS's house brand of film. I think it is made in Japan, but it may not be Fuji. Coulfd it be Mitsubishi or Konica? Anybody know?
