2010 seems to be shaping up as a interesting year for polaroid. With instant film back in the works and now they have named a new creative director.

Not sure if it is a smart move but it should be at least interesting...if her music videos are anything to go by!

I approve, though I doubt anything short of reintroducing instant film will do much for their fortunes.

Not too happy about this, but hopefully it will attract the younger chicky's to polaroids and get US made instant film back off the ground. I'm still pissed i got into it a week before it was discontinued.

I'm thinking the "instant" Polaroid is talking about in this release has everything to do with digital and nothing to do with film, even if they refer to their glorious past. Don't hold your breath, Gavin.

The best camera is one that still works!

I tend to agree .... damned if I can find mention of instant film or any film for that matter anywhere on the website!

They're re-releasing sx70 film polaroid cameras this year - a company that runs a website "the impossible project" bought all of polaroids old tools and machines and has developed new and efficient ways of making the instant film, and after about a years work polaroid themselves and another 3rd party invester agreed to re-invest, apparently some of the new film models will come out this year.
true story.

Ain't nostalgia grand.
Sound like pie in the sky, though.

The impossible project (from what i have read) purchased the Netherlands factory and have been working hard to turn out a sx70-like film. Apparently the deal did not include the original formulas so the guys had to start from scratch. For those who dont know, the guy behind the impossible project was one of the original lomo fellows. Some of you might groan at lomo (i have myself after seeing their prices) but you cannot deny they have made analog photography hip to the youth of today, so it will be exciting to think what the impossible project and polaroid will come up with. who knows instant photography might become the latest fashion! As much as it is ice to see the image on a lcd..there is something magical about instant film
