POLAROID quits the Polaroid Film Business

I'm surprised that they lasted as long as they did. The last pack I bought for my wifes old Polaroid I think was around 20 bucks. Yea maybe China can take over the licensing and sell it for 10 bucks. Then over at the LOMO website they can sell it as a niche item for $200.00 like they sell everything else.

Zink - Based Instant Printing

Zink - Based Instant Printing

I was sent this link about a new technology, developed by Zink, that is an instant color print technology that doesn't use ink ('Zink' = Zero Ink.) It has 3 emulsion layers in the paper that each change color and liquify when heated to a specific level. Polaroid has just adopted this new technology to a new portable printer that can be connected to a digi-cam's USB port. I can also envision a digi-cam with the printer built in. And larger format printers, too.

This has the promise of being a 'disruptive technology' in the way that light-sensitive polaroid was in an earlier era.
