I recently saw a web page detailing the removal and adaptation of a folding Polaroid flip-up rangefinder into a handheld rangefinder. It used a long machine screw a couple nuts and a paper scale one calibrates one's self.

I sure can't find it now! Anyone recall this?

Thanks

If you are going to try this I would suggest that you use one of the later Zeiss rangerfinders that are both single window and parrallax correcting. The geometry and coupling arm will have to be specific to the camera becuase other than setting infinity for the rangefinder itself the throw on the bottom of the rangefinder is a fixed length and fairly short, about 25mm ( 1").

We ask that if you are going to destroy a polaroid pack camera ( a really great camera ) that you leave some of the later models alone and stick with something like the 250 or other 200 series cams. A number of us do some modifications to the later models including the battery problem. Only one model has X sync ... please don't hack one of those ... thanks

..and of course, there's Graflex.

I hand-hold a 6X9 Century Graphic (1966?). Very accurate rangefinder, parallax correction by turning a knob. 3 lenses and 120 roll back. One of the lenses is a Rodenstock 80mm 2.8 Heligon...fabulous modern glass.

Did you look in your browser's history for the website? If it's not in the history, there are programs like Spider that will let you read your index.dat file.

CPB..I think it was a J66? or a 33 or something like that. I had a 350 but gave it to someone who is using it.

Lubi- THankjs, always a good reference, but not it. I thought it was foundphotography.com but I don't see it there...gotta dig or email that guy's blog...he has archives, might be there

RJB...17 miles E. of St Louis...I was in Highland IL once (WSJ printing plant) visiting a company plant.

I'll keep looking.

Oh, speaking of Polaroid rangefinders, there is a guy buying 95-150-800-850-900's like crazy on eBay and making 645/6x6/6x9/6x12 120 film conversions & reselling them on eBay.

maisondd3 or similar name.

A bit late perhaps for some readers , but Happy Holidays to all.

why do I always get the expensive or eh expensive/insane ideas here at this forum ?
Been trying to resist the whole Polaroid 4x5 rangefinder thing ever since I read about it here at the first time . . .

Now, didn´t my cousin collect some Polaroid cameras, and what to trade one for?

vha 😀
