Murderers of the Boeing 777. 298 people died, 192 Dutch citizens. We will hunt them like Bin Laden.
Poetin has a lot of blood on his hands.
Because I have also family in Ukraine we are very concerned about the whole situation. Now we know who are our friends ......

Like our prime minister said: all the information has to get on the table!
But your situations is a little different from the other Dutch, with relatives in the Ukraine. Hope they will be okay....

Sadly, it is not so simple: there have been cases of passenger planes shot down by the Russians, Ukrainians, French , Americans, etc. It would be different, if you could prove the intentionality. If someone shows a transcript of an order by Mr. X or Y to shoot down a passenger plane, things would take a different turn. The problem of Mr. Putin and the way he handles Russia, is that he is manipulating his own people into aggressive foreign policy, thus maintaining his popularity at home. This helps divert attention from the fact, that Russia is being depredated of natural resources by a few oligarchs, who virtually steal the nation's wealth and export the profits to foreign tax heavens. Monaco restaurants are full of Russian new rich who are vomiting money through their noses. It could be better spent at home, investing in the growth and advancement of the Russian society. Russians are not evil, they are being duped by a KGB gang.

Poetin is a KGB rat.
Half the Russian nation has been brain washed. It is the same in East Ukraine where they have only acces to Russian news. They have been brain washed too.
Fortunately most Ukrainian people have acces to independent sources and they really know what is going on.
Friends, family in Ukraine have send their condoleances and flowers for our people. We are thanking all these people for their commitment.
Poetin: You are to good for hell !

Condolences for all victims, their families and friends but this has nothing to do with photography or Tom A.
Keep politics out of RFF. There are a lot of other places to discuss this topic.

Let's make it about photography: The Guardian: flight MH17 crash in pictures. The first one shows a sign of humanity in a place that seems to be about anything but.

Actually, we do not know anything. One cannot depend on the main stream media to report anything factual these days. The massacre of civilians in Gasa is a good example. If you were to read the western papers, Israel is just doing what it needs to do to stop terrorism, while anyone w/ half a brain knows who the real terrorists are. It's like that in the Ukraine right now. Unless I heard something directly from someone there, I would not have any idea what is going on just by following the news. It's obvious that the western media is painting Russia to be the bad guys. Read the Russian papers and you will get a different take on that altogether. Where the truth is probably depends on whose side you are on in any of this mess.

I know I'm new here, but phrasing like "anyone with half a brain" is debatable if you know people on the ground, in addition to being pretty rude, and not conducive to polite discussion. Perhaps a more substantive discussion could be had in another forum, or better yet in person over beers, which is the best place to have polite disagreement.

Yes it is not so different from state media in some dictatorships. Anything to justify a country's foreign policy.

I think that we should close this thread here and now. I do sympathize with all the people affected by this tragedy - but it is the wrong forum for it.
