Let Us know what you feel about the changes that need to occur to keep RFF alive and blooming!!!
1. "Jorge's Fjord": keep the site as it is NOW, as in $25 gallery fee, $2.50 to post in eBay style classifieds

2. "Joe's Go": two tier system including... a $5-10 per annum subscription fee allowing only subscribed members to post. a $25 per annum fee for "perks" this tier would include all basics of the first, but have some extras like extended gallery built in (No sort of Badge of recognition would be associated with either tier, and classifieds forum would be returned to it's old way.)

3. "The Peliculae Perussi Maximus Theory": Supporting RFF by using Fundraisers, and things of the sort. Classifieds would be returned back to thier original form.

4. "I've got a big wallet, and don't give a ****, just stop complaining about it!"

5. A combination of any of the above, or something totally different. Please explain!

Let us not forget that there currently is NO fee for posting a classified ad.

The new classified can handle comments and things pop up to the top as most recent just like in the old way. I have removed the bidding option so it should just be a buy it feature. It also has user comments for feedback on a seller or buyer. Use it for a while then let me know.

And I'd also add that I think it is extremely decent of Jorge to permit folks to debate and discuss ideas.

Many other site sponsors would just make a decision and be done with it!

Thanks, Jorge.

Hear, Hear.

Hear, Hear.

I'm in for "Joe's Go" as far this poll is concerned. I've also been thinking about the new Classifieds; I think that, if the comment (and bumping) features work similarly to the forum of old, we'll still get on ok.

Perhaps the classifieds plug-in Jorge is using will allow better database stats, access, organization by category, etc....I don't know much about the software he's installed, but as long as side-deals, bartering, and dealing are still possible, I'm interested for the time being.

That said, I think it'd be nice if Money Orders, etc., were still possible. I think it's the "Buy It Now" button that's got my irish up. I liked it better, IMO, when the OP had to "pull the trigger" on accepting a sale, via a real, old-fashioned conversation.

Jorge, if I've got my assumptions wrong, feel free to throw egg in my face. My $25 is ready-and-waiting, by the way, for when we finalize a "new" subscription scheme.

Cheers,
--joe.

The option to donate via PayPal has existed since I can remember. Joe's idea is a good one. The gallery fee is already accepted by some. I think we can all do this without any problem.

Now, where's the habit and the guitar?

I say that anyone should be allowed to post. Only subscribers can post classified ads. Perhaps request a 4-5% donation from sales on the classifieds to RFF (as they do on apug).

I am against requiring subscription to post. I know it's only $5 or whatever, but I think that posting should be allowed for all members, not just subscribers.

there is no button for me to post one... ive tried it on both firefox and ie without results. what's the deal?

Joe's, go. But please give me an address and $25.00 will be in the mail today. I don't do Paypal. I don't use credit cards.

I voted for option three. Although it raises a fairness issue, keeping the site mostly as it has been is important to me. Of course that means Jorge still needs money to run the site, so I think we should do it like NPR does, with fundraisers. Call me a Marxist, but we should give according to our ability and take according to our need. If slapping membership and user fees on everyone causes people like Greyhoundman to drop out, then I say the price for RFF is way too high. We can't afford to lose the generous, "village" feel of this site. And judging by the interest, not to mention the number of Leica owners out there, surely a fundraiser can ease Jorge's financial burden, no?

jorge has caps left from the past sale (i think), just ask him.
iirc they were 15 bucks.

joe

Last time I wanted to buy an RFF cap (few months ago), Jorge couldn't find them...they where in some box he couldn't find after he moved.
If he's found the caps I'd like one too. 🙂
