Popcorn?

My wife and I were sitting in her booth at an art show this weekend (Lampworked glass and copper sculpture - not photography), and came across an interesting observation.

A photographer in his booth across the aisle expressed his like of popcorn. We noted that both my father and her father were avid photographers and loved popcorn. We both love photography and love popcorn.

The question is - does photography and popcorn go together? Do you like/love/crave/die for popcorn?

Plenty of salt, fatty as I can make it, few teaspoons of liquid faux-butter.
(hey, I only have a measly 114 pounds to my 5'11" frame)

I was just kidding - but we do usually go with the lite but salted stuff (unlike Erik - no skin and bones here 🙁 )

Love popcorn. Has nothing to do with photography. I have one of those "stir crazy" poppers that pop the old fashioned way with oil. I usually use canola oil but was tempted to get some of that "coconut oil" that is used by the movie theaters. The stuff is solid at room temperature and is like 100% artery clogging saturated fat but that is probably what makes it tastes so good.

Hey, I have to try that. I just polished off the last of some wasabi-dusted rice crackers after reading the above and think that would be a great combo!

BTW: my wife has an amusing tale about wasabi as a metaphor. A couple of years ago she was visiting some of her staff located in Taipei. This was a last stop after visiting Tokyo, HK and Shanghai.

Figuring that she might like some "western food" they took her to an English (American) style beefhouse. Following her lead - they all ordered the prime rib which came with the standard dollop of horseradish.

They saw her spread it on her meat and asked her what it was. Realizing they were "out of their element" she searched for a metaphor. Finally she explained that horseradish was very similar to wasabi - something she knew that they knew! 😀

[Yes, we know that wasabi isn't in the horseradish family but don't be so picky! :bang: )

BTW, to get the true answer you need to do a big randomised controlled trial. Your argument is a bit like "Kids like riding bikes; some kids are girls; therefore all girls like riding bikes".

It might be worth seeing if Ike and Sam will fund the study 😛

To answer some questions:
1. Yes, she had a good weekend at the fair. Sold a lot of items. Now she is working to build up her stock for the next art fair at our Balloonfest, June 23-25.
2. Yes, I mean the eating kind of popped corn, not the plastic foam packing stuff. By the by, back on the farm we raised our own popcorn. Really good!
3. No, never tried it was wasabi - might be good as I do like horseradish, and like wasabi with Thai food. I pop it in oil and use salt and butter, and sometimes parmesan cheese.
4. Yes, I know the relationship is flawed - sort of like the old: The sun gives off light; feathers are light - therefore the sun gives off feathers!
5. We've probably wasted enough server space on this silliness - I'm going to grab my GSN and go shoot some photos. Thanks for the fun! 😎

IMO there are only two things that taste worse than popcorn, but only by a mere fraction:

- buttermilk, basically because it's milk gone bad..
- fish & sea fruit, because it's been lying in water for too long..

But of course, tastes differ...
