Popular shows vilify street photographers

I watch TV on Sundays only. And then, it's PBS.

At times, I`ve watched L&O (the original one) and ER, or History detectives. Rarely do I go beyond that. But the Sunday PBS watching is a kind of tradition. Otherwise, I won't even watch the news.

As for photogs in the news... everything is fodder for sensationalism in this country. I've seen shows that present a demeaning image of college professors as pompous idiots... and while there are some in my guild, there are many of them all over the place.

BTW, after this and many other threads about photographing people in the US, I no longer do much in the US. Interestingly enough, Europeans don't care. And, as a RFF member from Amsterdam told me, they'd consider it strange that you had a camera and didn't photograph them.

I think I know where I'll go when I retire... :)

EDIT: I just recalled something I read this morning; it seems that "Dexter" is John McCain's favorite TV show. Obama prefers The Dick Van Dike show, and M*A*S*H.

I loved M*A*S*H... Only generals got bashed there! :)

I only watch football on the telly (that's soccerball in the US). There's enough violence there on the pitch for me, especially if you watch English football.

I prefer reality-based shows, like "Pushing Daisies."

We're surrounded by paranoid people whipped into a frenzy by something or other -- best not to react with more paranoia and frenzy.
