EDIT: Our next meeting is on Saturday, May 3rd, at 12 Noon!
Location: Taborspace Cream Coffee + Bakery
5441 SE Belmont St. Portland, OR 97215
I'm moving to Portland, Oregon to be closer to family and would love to plan a meet-up of fellow RFFers for sometime in October.
Anyone else here in the greater Portland area who might be interested in a photo walk and coffee?
Frankly I'm very open to ideas/dates. Comment below or PM if you'd prefer.
Best,
Miles

I live out in Astoria and would drive up for the event. I am in my 80's so long walks are not my metier anymore but I can shuffle around. I'd love to meet up with some like folks from this asylum called RFF.
I cannot recommend a coffee house but if you like Dim Sum, Hong Kong Cafe is the one, out on 82nd. For a meet-up or anytime you have the urge. Show up early or be prepared to wait for a table.

A nice coffee and gear chat sounds lovely. Hopefully others will chime in soon in the coming weeks so we can get as many out (off?) of the asylum as possible. Otherwise, I'll DM you.

We will save a spot at the table and order a coffee for you. Name your poison.

I'd sure enjoy the event. I was in a trucking outfit in the Army, half white, half Black and all southern. I learned a new way of speaking. One that still sticks in my mind is the description of a bunch of guys getting together "to tell lies and piss on each others legs." I grew up an hour from Times Square so this southern talk was magic, colorful and poetic to me.
We could have fun BS'ing and some show and tell. Do not forget that the PNW has rain. ;o)

You can talk the talk but can you walk the walk? You showin' up? ;o)
Another name for Slumgullion was Trainwreck because it kind of looked like a bunch of mangled corpses from a train wreck. Depression gallows humor. There was a similar one made with any sort of homemade chili and Frito-Lay Corn Chips, long on the corn chips. Great Depression buck stretchers when meat was rare and wonderful.

I have a friend who drives out to Vancouver weekly for recurring medical treatments on Saturdays so I could probably schedule carpooling with her if I have advance notice. Her appointments run from noon-1500ish and I could have her drop me off and we could meet while she's in session. If a Saturday early afternoon is doable for y'all, I can ask my friend about it.
I live in the Tri-Cities metro area and don't own a car or drive so making the trip isn't easy for me but it may be doable.

This is looking more and more like a jail break. ;o)

If I can make it, l'll be sure to walk in the door of whatever establishment we pick blasting the Great Escape soundtrack on my phone speaker. Or - perhaps more regionally fitting - Dave Grusin's Fratelli Chase from The Goonies. This is looking more and more like a jail break. ;o)

I am unemployable, um I mean retired, so any day works for me. It's a two and a half hour run up to PDX so early morning won't work. Otherwise it all works.

I am up for a meet-up, but October is challenging for me. It's my busy season. But, I live in Portland, so if I can't make the October meet-up, perhaps I'll make it to the November or December one (should they occur).

OK, mid-September is out for me as I will be in KC for a get-together of Honda G1 Insight owners. Yeah, another obscure group. Great cars. But other than that I am ready any time with a day's notice. And I can lie and BS as well as anyone and always have the price of a cup of coffee. So let's go!

The longer we put this off the less chance there is that it will happen. I have been bailed out. How soon can the rest of you get bailed out or paroled? All we need is the name of a coffee house - more common than than raindrops - and a date. I guess that weekends are better for you folks as you work. I can get up this Saturday or Sunday easily. You?

I live about 60 miles south. My son lives in the greater Portland metroplex region though... I visit him occasionally. My wife and I sometimes check out Ptown for some interesting events. Some day I bet I could make a meet.

All we need is a coffee house and a time. I know the coffee houses in Astoria but that is no help. Someone pick a spot. Early afternoon so I can drag these aged bones up to PDX and do what takes time, find a parking spot. So how about 1:00 on the 31st? Let's close out August in style, have a little show and tell and Kaffeeklatsch. All we need now is where.
Miles.

I will be in the process of moving to Portland on the 31st of August so I wouldn’t be able to make it but I would be thrilled to know folks were still meeting up if that’s a convenient day for others.
May I propose two alternatives?
1. Saturday, September 7, at 12PM
2. Saturday, September 28, at 12PM
Location: Crema Coffee + Bakery on 2728 Ankeny St
Do either of these work for folks here?
