Oregon Portland, OR Rendevous - Saturday, May 3rd, at 12 Noon

And a good time was had by all. I have to run out to the car and get the camera and post the general pic of Crema and the co-conspirators. The vintage cameras are just beautiful machines, precision, nice looking in design, all-around pleasing.

General topics were "What do you shoot?" and "What do you like to shoot?" and "What are you planning to shoot?"

Last time it was an espresso for Helen, this time a macchiato. The lady is working her way through the menu.

Nice to meet you both!

I enjoyed myself. And we all made it out just before the patrol wagon showed up. Clever minds triumphed again. And there is a chance we will have a new "virtual visitor" next month. There is a Russian who liked the Crema photo and is interested in photography. I offered him "virtual guest privileges" and think he is happy about that. Helen has company now in the virtual world. ;o)

I'll ask if he prefers tea to coffee. ;o)

I have gotten two new lenses, the Thypoch Eureka and the LLL Elcan, both nice lenses. The Amotal will be back this week. If you are interested I can pack them and the '43 CZJ 5cm f/1.5 which does very nice color and the SBS, again, for a show and tell. So far the Eureka has been quite nice. The Elcan is not yet tried. We are in a blanket of grey out here and I have not shot much with it, nothing with color yet.

If you want to shoot any with them bring an M body or other body adapted to M-mount. These are all retro lenses or retro replicas.

I am looking forward to a meetup with coffee and chat again. You guys and the virtual Helen and maybe the virtual Alexander from Russia.

Cheers

Boojum, best wishes for surviving the current cyclone, and the next one! Grey and dark certainly, and windy/rainy? It's been nicely boring here except for the 1" first snow of the season last night.

As luck would have it the bomb cyclone did not affect us in Astoria. Washington state got hammered and I guess PDX got it, too. But here on the coast we squeaked by. Snow is a big deal in PDX. I grew up in the NE and lived in Montreal for two years so an inch is not much of a threat to me. Other folks sometimes forget that the white stuff is plenty slippery though.

The grey thing is another story. It is just the PNW climate and I am used to it now, after 20+ years. That does not mean I celebrate it or even enjoy it but I can tolerate it. And then there are the pluses like the monthly meetup up at Crema in PDX. It really is fun.

I'm going to try and make it this month, barring unforseen disaster

That would be great. I am looking forward to meeting you. If you have some interesting gear to drag along for "show and tell" that would be great but primary is just showing up. I'll be coming up from Astoria so if you need a lift from WA or similar just give me a shout. $5 for the first half mile, then $1 per half mile after. ROTFLMAO See you Saturday. ;o)

And the virtual Helen from Manhattan and the virtual Alexander from Dubna (Russia) will be there, too. ;o) The problem with those two deadbeats is that they skip out without paying for their coffees.

Yeah, the monthly meet-up for coffee and conversation. If you have something you would like to show bring it along. I am still enthralled by that Contax and so proud I did not snatch it and run away. LOL They are gorgeous cameras and really look like they are a camera. Yeah, Leica is here and now but those old Contax cameras are just magnificent. And the Nikon S series, too. If there were only a digital version.

Elcan replica on M9 might be an interesting combo

So weather was good? For me, this time of year it's just not fun to drive the interstate... not to mention the less-than-optimal street scene. Yes, I once read that foul weather made for interesting photographs....but not always!

Glad P-town meetups are happening.

The weather was fine. The coffee was good. The show and tell was good and the conversation was great. We will save a seat for you.
