Tom: Is there accessory to reduce M6TTL 0.85 viewfinder to 0.58 without sending the body to Leica for modification? Tks.

I have never heard of one. Interesting thought though. I had 3 of my 0.72's converted to 0.58 (A Millennium M6, one of my LHSA M6 and a stock M6TTL). This was done by DAG, He would allow some credit against the coversion as he could "sell" the 0.85 finder to someone who wanted that.

Thank for the reply.

I wish to "keep" both 0.85 & 0.58 with one body. Its looks like there is no "cheap" alternative other than invest in another 0.58 body.

I think Japan Exposures (http://www.japanexposures.com/) once sold a 0.85x VF "demagnifier," but they no longer list it on their site. If it's still available somewhere that would get you 1/2-way to 0.58. Dirk, the owner of Japan Exposures, is an RFF guy, so he could weigh in.

... interesting, I'd like to "de-magnify" my 0,72 finder too ... the cheapest alternative I suppose is the bessa R4 ...

Not more than a few months ago I saw a number of e*ay vendors selling a demagnifier, including Japan Exposures.
From what I understand, performance was questionable.
<edit> sorry I can't elaborate beyond that.

I think the only way this will work is an adapter on the front of the viewfinder glass. Sort of like the goggles from the Leica 35 made for the M3 some years back.

Magnification can be done either from the front or the back.

I really think you need to bend some light that you current viewfinder does not see.

I could be wrong......but don't think so.

I've heard it works fine for .72 to .58 as but don't know about .85 to .58 or anything other than .72 to .58 with the ebay demagnifiers.

One RFFer said the framelines don't work when he tried it, but the owner of the ebay one said they did, so I guess it's a try for yourself and see.

Perhaps you should get a body with an 0.58 finder and buy a 1.5x eyepiece-mounted magnifier. That'd fit the bill, I think.

I've tried a cheap demagnifier (0.85) before, because I could not see the 28mm framelines in the M6TTL 0.72. There was no improvement at all using the demagnifier. I ended up buying an 0.58 body.
