Post a Xmas day photo...

We have been together for 23 years and she still puts up with me. She's even developed an interest in photography. What more could I want? 🙂

She'd be happy to hear that you thought her 'lovely' as she would hardly believe that she looked anywhere near her best! 🙂 But I agree, I think there is a warm feeling to it that says a lot about her.

Thanks for the best wishes Martin and all the best to you in the New Year.

John,
Very nice photo, lovely wife.
Are they your photos displayed on the wall just out of focus?
I like the way the background and to the side are out of focus.
Very nice.

Thanks Robert,

Those are my photos on the wall - the house is full of them and are a source of conversation and joy when we look at our kids at various stages of growing up.

I love the narrow depth of field as well and usually shoot the 40mm wide open. I find it has a pleasing bokeh, though some would disagree.

Here are some more that I really like in terms of bokeh.

Cheers,

John

R-D1, Nokton 50mm, probably @ f/2-ish

John, I like your photos, the bokeh is nice.

Terao, nice photo, the Nokton lens are impressive.

I love Christmas but I am always glad to get it over and look foreward to the spring and summer with the warmer weather and longer days although the weather so far this winter is mild.

Terao,

The muted colours in the background look wonderful! I'd love to try a RD1...

John

Thanks John. Autumn has been so mild over here that there are still (brown) leaves on the trees, hence the colours 🙂

RD1 is great fun, even if it does remove the anticipation of darkroom work...

you were married at 18?
😱 that is really young! 😉
lovely photo

We meet at a school dance. I was 18, she was just turning 16. We were married three years later, holding our 8 month old twins. They turn 20 in January 🙂

We are probably closer now as we do lots of the things together that we couldn't when we were younger, especially when money was very tight! Funny though, we never let it worry us, we just adapted. Now we worry 🙂

Some people suspect that we missed out on things, but we have grown up children (plus a 13 year old) and are young enough to take a very active part in their lives. It's a fairly exciting time...

Easy solution come over to Australia - our Xmas has been very warm.

It's a funny time, because of our traditional ties to Europe, we still have Xmas trees, our Xmas cards have winter scenes and snow, we kiss under mistletoe (though that tradition is dying) and the kids welcome Santa on a sleigh. And yet it could anywhere up to 40 degress C in the shade. Things have changed somewhat since I was a kid though.

Xmas is shirts off around the BBQ, pool or seaside for many Aussies.

Best wishes to all for the New Year

John

my brother setting up his christmas present in the kitchen.
unfortunately not a rf shot 🙁
taken with my new olympus om-1 and the 24/2.8

Nice! Love the contrast and small details on the kitchen bench. Love the lens too. Just picked on up for my OM2 recently from a member here.

One pick taken with the 24 in some better lighting with HP5.

Cheers - John
