post links to great online galleries here

a bump and some adds for a good thread, and thanks for pointing out Rami's site.

Another great RFF shooter: Alan Soon.

Ben Krain is a great, consistent photojournalist. I used to work at the Arkansas paper he's at, and day in, day out he would file a great photo, no matter how mundane or boring the assignment was.

and tying back to books, Greg Girard has a set online from "City of Darkness: Life in Kowloon Walled City." He and Ian Lambot spent four years shooting and interviewing people there, and the the book is an incredible document. More than 35,000 people lived there on 6.5 acres. This one's on the top of my books-to-get-when-I'm not-on-a-budget list.

wow, I remember those Liberia photos, but I didn't realize they were all Chris Hondros'. He really captured how that war was fought by children, both fierce and scared.

There is a wealth of information here and clearly everyone has gone to some trouble find out the exact URL links so perhaps when this thread has eventually run its course, all the links from the individual posts could be gathered together and diplayed as a kind of resource list somewhere on the site. It could then be accessed easily by everyone including newcomers to the site - in the future - a bit like on the Lightstalkers site? just an idea and i appreciate it may take some work -web wise - but what does anyone think?

I agree, it would be very useful.

That's a good idea. This is a pretty great list that exposed me to a bunch of new people, and even though it'll be available in the archives, it'd be a shame if it's mostly buried and unseen after a few days.

FWIW, I find the resources section of LS pretty informative, and one of its best assets. Discussion is great (sometimes), but those directories and lists make it an easier reference site to use.

A very good list Chuck.
I was thinking that it might be a good idea to start a thread listing good photographic books (not so much the how to do technical ones) and monographs.
I find prints seen in books is much more enjoyable than online viewing although a much more expensive option of course.....

Absolutely, there is nothing like sitting down with a well done photo book. They can be very expensive so I spend hours in the book store and library looking at them.

I was looking for Roger Mayne's shots and I found this:
G***gallery
There are also Jean moral's shots.
As already posted in an other thread it's a link to a gallery that sells photo prints but I don't have any relationship with them.
