I'm amazed how negatives handles dynamic range and color - very true to life. I like Digibase for it's well defined grain. Below is 13 years expired Kodak GPX.

GPX requires slight Red Gamma change for grey balance. No USM, color correction used in all examples. Sorry for dirt

Some interesting scan material Fernando and Jack.
Interesting, looks more like a 3D picture

Some more color infrared E6 slides drumscanned, I've really started to like the red rendering - previously I wasn't satisfyed with Epson flatbed that didn't resolve so much in the red spectrum - very "bald" reds (CCD limits?). With the drum scanner I'm able to get those "burning" reds, similar as inspecting the slides against the light. No saturation changes on those scans. For scanning I'm using Kodak Ektachrome familiy IT8 calibration target and Adobe RGB color space (I use Photo Pro RGB when I do numerous PP manipulations, but not on those). I find the scanner can go very deep infrared when needed, the Hamamatsu R1617 photomultiplier tubes inside the ScanMate 11000 are very interesting choice of PMTs since their sensitivity goes from ultraviolet 300 nanometers all the way up to infrared 850 nanometers, which is a somewhat unusual IMO, since many simpler drumscanners use just the visual-range on their PMTs, from the usual 400-650 nm.

Finally found a drum scanner for sale near enough to me. Howtek 4500. Two drums that came with it are in bad shape. Any Kami fluid on a drum = instant crazing of the drum surface. Slowly polishing the drums to make them useful for dry mounting. Surprisingly, dry mounting doesn't produce any newton rings.

Crazing phenomenon interest me - could you check chemical composition? SDS vs. Kami? Paraffinum oil can be bought everywhere and should be safe.

I don't have any SDS fluids. I do intend to try them and see what happens.
I don't want to start another Kami vs. SomethingElse war. I was in the process of getting a drum scanner for a long time now and read a lot about various fluids. There is a vocal group of Kami bashers and probably as vocal group of Kami bashers bashers. After seeing Kami in "action" on my drums I know that some drums definitely shouldn't be used with Kami stuff (I tried both, Kami fluid (SXL2001) and gel (SC2001)). I guess it's possible that some drums were produced differently than others, some were refurbished and maybe not up to original "specs" anymore... I don't know.
