Yes, typewriters. Hermans was one of the most popular literary writers of the twentieth century in The Netherlands.
I could take this picture of him on his 65th anniversary in 1986.
As a present he received this painted portrait (made by a Dutch painter) from his publisher and some friends. The painting is now in the "Literatuur Museum" in The Hague.
Hermans was also a (amateur) photographer. I could use his Elmarit-M 21mm f/2.8 to make this photograph.
