Public water faucets (Çeşme) are still maintained in the historic sections of Istanbul. Many were built by wealthy patrons and Sultans from the Ottoman era and provide the public with fresh water for drinking, cooking and cleaning before prayers. They have always been places for socializing and appear to continue in that vein…

Here is a Plaubel Makina "action shot". I was rocking back and forth while looking through the rangefinder, trying to get the left eye closest to me in sharp focus. And of course the horses were excited and constantly moving about, not so easy to do with this type of camera! But here it is.......... I think I was using the 100mm F4.2 lens, I was trying it out for the first time.

Viewfinder fitted with Makina II Black 21cm Mask. Kentmere EI 800, processed to EI 1600. 5x7 Silver Print on Arista #2 RC, developed in Ansco 130 1:3. Nex7 50mm Zeiss Touit, Broncolor Impact Strobes at 45 degrees camera left and right. Polarizer on Touit, and on the strobes as well. I have a Makina II brochure that is dated 1930. Not bad for a 95 year old camera and lens! "Plastic" rendering quality of Olde Makinar is pleasant.
