This was part of the Nikon Rangefinder Month 2014 - but a battle ensued between Lightroom 5 and Flickr - and LR took out about 80% of the RF month shots. There are still sitting in Flickr, but no tags and no captions.

Very nice photos! Just started using this lens with the S2, and trying to understand if its characteristics are similar to those of the 10.5cm 2.5 F-mount lens. Have to go back through the March Nikon month thread.

Nice shots! Tom's disembodied arms, for some unknown reason, still gives me pause.

I really like the color rendering in Maryland's shots, and Raid's moody tonalities are nicely dramatic. The B&W stuff is as fine as always, with both Chris's sharp and contrasty imaging alongside Filmtwit's classic "Nikon Glow."

Such a nice mix really demonstrates the broad range of imaging possible with classic Nikon gear. I've been perusing EBay this weekend looking at prices, but Tom's so very correct: It is a beast of a lens--tres beeeeg!

By the way, Chris: I am truly missing your former "Red Eyes Man" avatar! But the black Nikon RF is quite nice as well.

Nikon SP, Nikkor 105mm f2.5, TriX rated at 250 iso in Td 201 A 3min - B 3 min. Probably at f2.5 or f4.0.
Her eyes were that iridescent blue - and I think her dad already had nightmares of her becoming a teen ager!

I'm going to finally do a comparison test of the 10.5cm RF, 10.5cm SLR (Sonnar), and 105mm SLR (Double-Gauss) lenses now that I have a digital camera that can take all three (will have to focus by trial and error w/ the SLR lenses, of course). The RF 10.5cm though sure is a fine lens. Here's a snap this afternoon with my new M9, at f/5.6 I believe:

The 10.5cm SLR version should be optically identical to the RF version. A quick look at the rear element would verify whether or not they are identical. However, the coatings tended to change over the years, with bluish coatings on the RF lens and yellowish coatings on the SLR lens (at least in my single samples).

From what I understand, the SLR design had to be ever so slightly tweaked due to the mirror box. And of course the design then changed from Sonnar to Double-Gauss. I have both versions. That said, only the earliest SLR versions had 9 blades, with most having 6 blades, or 7 later on with the DG design. The RF lens has 10 blades. The # of blades definitely have an impact on the OOF rendering.

Good point about number of blades. The 135mm SLR and RF lenses are fully identical and interchangeable (I've interchanged elements) but I never scrutinized the 105mm optics to that level of detail.
