Posting Images And Being Photo Editor At The Same Time - this is a very interesting activity enabled by the Weekly Picks section.

As Photo Editor for the Weekly Picks, you have to make decisions. To take stands. What appeals to you and what not.

And the hardest part of it is that some times I find myself in absolute loneliness. Therefore I am not so sure if I am forwarding an excellent image not appreciated by anyone else, or just a crappy one in coincidence with a crappy side within my feelings and mind.

Of course, at these instances I cannot go back or compromise. What I perceive as outstanding, I forward to the Weekly picks even if no one has written a miserable commentary below the image.

======

This labour has had some implications over my own Gallery. Once upon a time I asked how is it possible that people happen to praise the pics I don't praise so much among mine, and viceversa.

Now, without realizing it exactly why, once any of my images gets some 70 views and no commentary - the picture is out. In most cases.

Because by the same coin as when criticizing, there are some exceptions i do stand behing an image of mine, even without any support.

=====

Finally, perhaps the most important of all: can your participation as editor at the Weekly Picls make you into a better photographer ?

I do think so.

Cheers,
Ruben

Well, I would say that it is the directly personal subjectivity of liking a certain photo or not.
What appeals someone must not necessarily appeal to another one.
That's the outcome of sense in this question - taste.

Of course the taste to like a certain photo can attract a large crowd of people, but on the other hand in a limited audience there could be also images that only find a very small group of people who like it.

However, the "Gallery pics" threads are much appreciated, also by myself. So we should keep on doing this.
