Help
I don't know where to look to find info concerning the process of
attaching images that are not thumbnails.I've a canon 4200f scanner,if that's of any help.I'm also rather ignorant concerning the
size (so many pixels by so many pixels) that can be posted (or accessed,by members).Clearly I need a thorough walk through.
As always, thanks in advance for any help.
Regards,Peter

First, you need your pictures on a host site like photobucket, flickr etc. To post in a thread like the one you created here, first copy the url (addresss) where a photo is hosted. It will be something like http:// yourphotohostsite/picture.jpg. At the top of the box where you type your message, click the button that looks like a landscape with the sun. Paste that picture address in the pop up window, and hit the ok button. This will insert the photo into your post.

You can also attach the image to the RFF post, open it in a separate window, and cut and paste the URL into the post, surrounded by the image command.

Use the "advanced" option for posting, and "manage attachments". After uploading, click on the file just uploaded, and it will open in a new window. Copy the URL for that window into the your reply.

attachment.php

To see how i did this, clock on the "quote" option for this post.

Sorry to disagree with a mod but I wouldn't recommend Brian's method. The image is still just an attachment that way. This means it's not visible unless you're logged in, and will be deleted during the periodic clean-ups of the site. (I believe attachments "expire" after two years?)

Sounds like a long time, but we have some popular photo threads here that have been going on for much longer. I find it very frustrating that all the older attachments in those threads are gone.

If you're not on flickr (or similar), you can upload your photo to your own gallery here on RFF and then link to that, as described in #2 above.
