Hi folks.
so I was browsing my local classifieds, and I find this ad.

"Kodak Professional E 100 GX …….25 Rolls Exp.May-2005
Kodak Professional E 100 VS …….25 Rolls Exp.Oct-2005
Kodak Professional E 100 SW …….10 Rolls Exp.Nov-2003
Fuji Velvia 100 F……………… …….30 Rolls Exp.May-2005 "

I was wondering if any of you folks could give me your opinion on these different kinds of flim. I believe I read that the Velvia 100F is not so great.

Anyways, thanks for looking.

Out of the ones listed I've only used the Velvia 100F and I found it to be an excellent film with very fine grain. It still has fairly saturated colours but skin tones comes out much better on this 100F than it did on the old 50.

I never personally continued to use it much after I found Fuji Provia 100F which met my needs for a great all-purpose slide film.

I love E100GX. Makes it seem like all the world's a sunny day.

It seems more "natural" to me, the shadows aren't quite as blue, but the color warmth is really gentle.

All bets are off if it's expired, unless it was frozen/refrigerated.

Unless it has been kept frozen I would pass unless you want to experiement with it.
Velvia is an outstanding film.with excellent color saturation.

velvia 100 is great, so is the E100VS, but both are suited to lanscape or scene rather than portrait as they are punchy and do not give great skin tone.E100GX is great for people, I always push a third to get a bit more contrast as it is quite flat.cant remember what SW is all about.
a very buyer beware situation though.

I'm still on Fuji Reala 2004 and it's fine. And I've got 60 rolls in stock. Look at the photo I put up on my site today, the racing cyclists, that is what 2004 expiry film looks like.

For experiments I'm on Fuji Sensia 1998, it's always cross processed so the colors are going to be odd anyway.

If the price is right buy the film. If anything else having almost 100 rolls there is going to get you out taking photos.

The seller wants 2.75 for each roll.
They've been refrigerated, and I haven't tried any of these before. I think I'll pick up some. What do you guys think?

I wouldn't bother about it at that price.
Get a few, un-expired, pro-packs of the films you like from B&H.

i have purchased expired and short dated film (color slide) from my regular film vendors and it has been just fine. One has the assumption that if it is being sold by a professional film and equipment vendor, it has been kept under good conditions.
