Sad. He was a nice guy in his way -- I met him a number of times at the Noblex stand, including the time I inadvertently smashed a 35mm prototype -- but some of the information in the obiit did not square with my understanding of what happened (the 360 degree swing is an obvious example).
He was a man always surrounded by extremely interesting stories and rumours, many of which were true. And I remember all kinds of odd things like his travelling-neg-carrier enlarger, synchronized with a roll-head paper holder. At least, I think that was one of his. I hadn't realized he was that old.
