hi folks,

after owning a Bessa R2C for some weeks now, i can only say - wow. originally i bought it as a "user body" for my contax lenses as my contax IIa is just a little bit too much asking for intense CLA to be a joy to use. (some day, little sister, some day)
but after handling it for some time, i consider it to be the nicest addition to my "flock of cameras" since quite a long time. it is easy to use (as far as the lens mount allows), and a kind of weird beauty too. especially i like the uncluttered viewfinder - just one frame at a time is a relief to my grey eyes (old hair? emmm ... you get it, i hope). i had a chance to handle a friend's R3A with a 40mm nokton, too, and i prefer the R2C's setup. i witnessed a lot of people praising kobayashi-san's products, and i also have seen some leica snobs doing the opposites. now you can count me in to the former group ... even the epson has not convinced me as much. thanks to kobayashi-san, as well to stephen the head bartender who still had some on stock when i finally made up my mind.

also, comparing it to my M6 classic does not lessen my joy, and i must tell that i consider to replace the leica by something different - not by an R2x, though, but by a zeiss ikon. can anyone understand? do you think this is reasonable? does reason play any role anyway?

so, i contemplate ... i want a film body for my M lenses (mainly zeiss ZM, btw.)
- keep the chrome M6? keeping it is the cheapest option ... and it works well.
- replace by black ZI? never had it in my own hands yet.
- get an R2A? i'll probably prefer the R2C.

ohhh. luxury problem.
please don't take me serious with this.

🙂

Somewhat echos my experience with the Bessa-T versus the Leica-M4.

If you're really objectively looking at it, the Leica's ever so much more camera than the Bessa; the build, the smoothness of the shutter, the clarity and accuracy of the RF/VF combined finder.

But guess what? The one that I always took along was the T.. rarely ever the M4. I just couldn't get used to it.. so the M4 went, and the T stayed..

I'm now even somewhat halfheartedly thinking about adding another Bessa..

sorry for posting in the wrong forum, but as it was about VC, leica and zeiss at the same time, i was uncertain where to put it.

yes, the leica is "THE" camera. but ..
i'm still considering to trade my chrome classic M6 for a black ZI ... maybe it's time to try the classified's once more.

cheers,
sebastian
