Hi,
I want to do a CLA in Praktica PL Nova (an old Praktica with cloth shutter). I cannot find any service manual or notes.
I found some articles written by Steve Sheppard but they are no longer available to read.
Maybe someone have these articles archived? Or maybe someone of you have the original Pentacon repair manual?
Thank you.

Krzysztof

What info are you looking for? This is a pretty simple camera to work on, it is usually not necessary to completely disassemble it for cleaning and lubricating.

I'm looking for some disassembly guide. I have Nova B. Shutter lever is jammed and I don't know how to unscrew the time knob. It doesn't want to release both clockwise nor counterclockwise. That is an old type know like in Praktica FX, with "slow - fast" selector on it.

I have too an other question - I repair now an MTL3 and there are coating losses on the CdS element mirror (glued to the prism, to its front). Is this mirror like every front surface mirrors or it's semipermeable one? I have a service manual for praktica L but in L despite of similarities there isn't any light meter.

If it has the lift and set shutter dial, with the slow-speed dial on top of it, you need to remove the screw in the top, then remove the slow speed dial. Then you'll see the main shutter shaft sticking up through the shutter dial. Through this shaft is a tiny pin that holds the dial on (or at least this is how it is put together on the older Praktica FX). You need to push that pin out in order to remove the dial. You might need to bend a sewing needle and use that to push it out, as there's not much space for any other sort of tool.

Edit: Just went to look at a Nova B I have, and it looks like the inner part of the shutter dial actually screws down on the shaft, you'll need a slot spanner tool to remove it. It may or may not come out with the above mentioned pin still in place.

Thomosy has a picture of the tool in the article I mentioned above. I use a modified screwdriver:

The dial unscrews clockwise.
