Hehe, I am in the minority here, being a guy who prays, but even some like me do as you do, Bob. In my orthodox world, though, such avoidance as I practice is termed "kicking against the goads." As a 'goad' is a spike, it is an image of futility. Metaphorically, that's why I have bloody feet
The goad is a prod (a device like a cattle prod) used to jab animals. The goad in my mind conjures an image of forcibly directing or prodding toward someone else's will. Metaphorically "evangelizing" one could say.
