I'm in the market for one of these lenses. Erikfive has already provided some solid advice and I am looking for any other users experiences to help me decide which to buy.
I have ruled out the CV's and Zeiss lenses. Having owned a few examples of both makes I just find them to be too clinical in their drawing.
So does anyone out there use either of these lenses on the M8? If so what has been your opinion. I've read posts which state that apart from the maximum aperture they are essentially the same lens: that is their signature at f2 upwards is very similar.
Cheers.

I have the 35 Summilux Pre-Asph, and use it on my M8 with very good results. The later units made in Germany are the preferred ones as the older lenses have some metering problems as the rear lens shroud blocks the light from being read by the light meter cell. It is my personal opinion this is the one lens which performs better on the M8 than with a film M. My copy is a Titanium version and works very well on my M8.

My Summilux works very well on my M8. I sold the Summicron so long ago that I never tried it on the M8.
The two are very similar at f/5.6 and below. At f/2, f/2.8 and (very slightly) at f/4 the Summicron was better. At f/1.4 there's no contest.
As I normally use fast lenses either wide open or at f/4 and below, I saw no great need to keep the Summicron.
Cheers,
R.
