Hi Erik. I'm enjoying your shots, but particularly wanted to mention this one from earlier as a favorite.
I have no pre-war lenses by Leica just Zeiss, Voigtlander, and large format, but I like check in on this thread to see what others are up to.

I just thought it was a little quiet in this topic.

I find this one fascinating too Erik. The very upright lady on the bicycle looks like she is a time traveller who just pedalled in from the mid 1930's. Excellent.Leica III/Summar/TMY400-2/AdoxMCC110

Got a new scanner and finally able to scan things without them being soft as hell. Nice to see what this Summar can really do.
Although, an edit: I hosted this on Amazon's Photo service as a tester and it looks a lot softer/more compressed than it does on my laptop. Blergh.

Really wonderful shots everyone. I have no pre-war glass… not Leica, anyway. My 50mm Elmar is from 1946. A 30’s-era 35mm Elmar is definitely on the wishlist though.

The 1946 version of the Elmar doesn't differ from the original design, except for the addition of coating
It's not until the 1950s, as I recall, that it was recalculated with new glass types that came available.

I wonder why they did; the original one was very good, still impressive.

The Elmar formula is certainly a true Tried & Tested design
Wartime Leica IIIc with a 5cm f/1.5 Summarit
(Stretching the 'pre-war' rule a bit with that one. At least the formula is pre-war)

1939 uncoated Summitar (don’t know if actually prewar, but one of my favorite lenses, even better than “modern” Summitar)
