Anyone have a good idea on current prices? Im talking no haze. A little cosmetic issue...but nothin major. Also, if haze is involved...how difficult is this to clean? I kind of want a beater that I can paint black......I know it's silly....so whatta ya think?

I paid $275 for mine in exc condition, but that was a year or 2 ago. I'm not familiar with current prices.

They seem to be in the $325 to $400+ ballpark....they have always been HARD to find clean and like it`s "Father" the f1.5 50mm Xenon - they almost ALWAYS have the cleaning marks and haze/fogging issues

I did have a rare 1949/50 Taylor Hobson issue one back in Germany in the 1990`s and I remember back then I paid like nearly $450 for it with a bubble case, front cap, shade and rare UV filter
(that was back in my nutty collector days when I had like 25+ cameras in the house - funny but I DON`T miss it)

They are a interesting lens, built well, but "softer" signature, then say for example a Nikkor f1.4 50mm etc.
If razorsharpness is your "thing" this lens is NOT for you - hummmmm finding a "beater" Summarit will be honestly EASIER to do if you buy a WHOLE camera.....look for a used up IIIF BD on the Evilbay perhaps that`s the BEST way to get one of those - most really clean ones are SCOOPED UP by the collector sharpies out there....

Good Luck!

Tom

Man I love this lens!

Mine is a super clean example and it gives any summilux a run for the money. And it is sharp.
Again, my sample is super clean. Please don't listen to the "The Summarit is soft" people unless you know they are talking about their own battered and probably filthy sample.
Superb lens with a unique signature that makes me LOVE shooting it. If it wasn't for this lens, I'm not sure I'd love shooting Leica *that* much.
