price for a bargin M2

I'm going to put my M2 (CLA'd early this year) up for sale later today/this weekend for about $650 (shipped) - it will likely include some "goodies" with it.

I think the $500-$600 range is about right if you consider no shipping/taxes included - that is, via ebay.

Cheers,
Dave

I got my well-used (with impressive brassing round the strap lugs) but recently CLA'd (and very smooth) M2 for £320 ($640) earlier this year, and I thought that was a pretty decent price. (I know it's not quite what you asked - it's had a CLA - but it's an example to add to the pool that might be of use).

My M2 was 380 euros. It is a plain user, but looks quite nice, apart from some marks on the top plate due to meter use,

Finder was perfect, but shutter hadn't ben serviced in 45 years so was way off. CLA was 200 Euros. Needless to say, it is glorious now.

If a brassed M2 sells for $700, then what is the market value for a near mint M3? [or other M cameras?]

You might check with Youxin Ye -- wye7atyahoodotcom -- who sometimes has mechanical Ms for sale. I bought one from him not so long ago at a good price.

Last year I bought my very good looking M2 for 349 euro (550 US$). It didn't need an immediate CLA, but I had it done anyhow because of dusty viewfinder and I like my cameras in tip-top function. So I wouldn't pay more than 400-450 US$ for a bargain one that needs a 200 US$ CLA.

Here's mine:

Thank you folks for your help.
I asked for an M2 I saw at my collage photo-center, and I would like to offer them a price for buying the camera.

To directly answer your question, I'd say it depends on where you are located. In the USA, I'd say a user M2 (from a private party, not a dealer) in need of a CLA would sell for $350-$400 range. That's about right. Many I see offered a good bit more than that, though. Don't know about outside the USA, but prices seem to be a bit higher elsewhere. Hope that helps.

Figure $150-$200 for a good CLA, perhaps a bit more, if it needs parts.
