Price for mint 50mm f/1.2?

I'm in the process of selling all my RF gear (just don't have the time to shoot film these days it seems) and I have a excellent condition Canon 50mm f/1.2 for sale. No marks on the barrel, original leather case, Canon front and rear caps. Optically no haze and only very light oiling on the blades with extremely minor internal dust. What are these going for in this condition? It really is the nicest example I've seen having been following auctions and RFF ads. I'm loathe to sell it because I've taken some memorable photos with it but needs must. Probably good enough to be a collector's piece...

Kevin Cameras lists his ex and mint versions (without lens) starting at around $550 and going up from there.

With an original hood add 200-300 depending on its condition.

Personally, I think that's more than a little optimistic. I've seen very good copies go for well under $400. (But mostly to shooters, not collectors - collectors are a weird group. You never know.)

Just make some good photos, and put it up on ebay with NR and a good description, ending on a Sun morning PST.

You will get more for it by showing condition of the glass and photo's taken with it. The price of Super-Speed RF lenses is way up. Probably due to Noctilux prices skyrocketing. So the price of the Canon 50/1.2 went up. It used to be cheaper than the 50/1.4. Sell it to someone that will use it, and that is not going to fork out for a 50/1.0 or 50/0.95. It's a great low-light lens. I use mine more than the Canon 50/0.95, it's 1/2 the weight and a lot smaller.

One of my Top "user" lenses, together with my Canon f1.5 and my "Tokyo" Nikkor SC f1.4, I love it!!!!!

The f1.2 goes down as one of the BEST Fast 50mm`s LTM lenses of the 1950`s and early 60`s era.

I think Kevin buys low and sells high. He buys a lot on eBay, taking chances on poorly described and pictured items. The winners get sold in the storefront, the losers through other channels...

From my "collecting brain half" I still cannot understand the price increase of the 50/1.2, because the lens was made in dozens of thousands.
There are many nice (and better performing) Canon lenses made in smaller runs, beeing cheaper.
If I were a "collector" (not an accumulator) I wouldn't pay 500 USD for this lens even it comes with new paper box and original price tag, just for high numbers produced. Except if the hood would be also included... 😉
Of course this price is a hype. It will come down if all the people found out that it is no cheap Noctilus.
About the 50/1.5, there's NO hype. This lens is a collectable for numbers produced.

With all due respect - the title says "mint" and then you describe it as excellent, with oil and minor dust. Condition is everything on a popular lens like this. If the rest of the lens is really clean - I'd get a CLA done - then advertise it as minty with a recent CLA. Then it may sell as high as $ 400 or more.

Back when you could tell who the buyer was on eBay, Kevin bought as kinche-l. I've seen 800% markups on some of those items, which he can't be applying on everything. He took chances in his bidding. I've heard that he does sell his duds, just not on the website.

I've seen similar specialist dealers in other fields, who keep their prices high enough to always have stock on hand. It's a workable and valid business model, but risky in a down economy.

I have been searching for 50mm 1.2 but nowadays, in the past two weeks I saw only two bids and they were 400-450$,
Previously It had been sold 300-350$ on ebay 3-4 I remember very well.

I would like to buy but I cant provide 400-450$ I am so regretful why I didnt bid when it was 300$...
