Price for Mint R-D1

I am going to sell my mint hardly used R-D1 and am lost as to what is the appropriate price to ask. It comes with all boxes, papers, manuals, epson leather case and I also have the megaperl magnifier. I have seen all ranges of prices. And three batteries, charger etc. Can you please tell me what I should list it for? Thanks so much, elijah
 
I've seen them range from $900, as gdi says, on up. They were selling for $1500 for a while but I cannot give you a reliable upper end of that range from the last couple of months, though I seem to remember $1300 as a figure. It would also depend on whether the firmware has been upgraded or not. But, ultimately, I think gdi is also right about the major issue -- how fast you want to sell it vs how much money you want to make.
 
Firmware upgrade is a sinch, so should not detract much from the value if not yet performed. Not much has happened pricewise the last year, R-D1's are still being advertised for more than $1100-1200. The mentioned $900 ad here at RFF is, as yet, an exception.

There have been more than one in the classifieds here for that price recently. I bought a "near" mint one about 6 months ago for less than 900 from another site.

They all seemed to have sold very quickly. But, you are right that most sell for a couple hundred more. Now seems to be a good time to sell one, I don't see many advertised.
 
I usually like to go on Ebay when I'm selling camera gear. Do an "advanced search" and check the box "completed listings". This shows you all the finished listings. The ones in green sold, the ones in red didn't. This way you get a good feel as to what people were asking (and didn't sell), and what they got (the ones that did sell).

Maybe those who say $ 900 are interested in buying!😉

Epson does not seem to prepare the R-D2, and no other camera is like the R-D1 : It is unique, it's a collectable camera!
Do not sell it ... or at least $ 1,500🙂
 
a hardly used RD-1? what a shame, its my go to camera and indispensible for M mount lens testing before I put the lens on my film M6 for some real shooting. It may be mint, but buyers like to know the # of clicks, which almost always factors into the price.

The people who sold their RD-1for $900 usually are not mint, but they needed to pay their mortgage in the next 72 hours. Those advertising for $1500 usually don't sell for $1500 in my experience. But you have some goodies that people will like, the hard to find Epson leather case and Megapearl will drive a higher than average price. That said, I'll give you 5 bucks for it, or trade you my microwave😛, like those shmucks on Craigslist. Good luck,
 
I agree with the above. The fact that it can mount M-mount lenses natively, and has a large sensor with relatively large pixel pitch, makes it worth upwards of $1500 easily. If you can, hang on to it, it will only go up as long as there are no other digital optical based RF's with native M-mount capabilities offered. IMHO.

i bought mine in september 2009 for 1300 from keh. it was mint, came with body cap, epson battery and epson strap. i'd say 1400/1500 would be fair.
 
In Shanghai, beaten R-D1s samples go for about 1.300,-USD
I don't see anything 900,- USD.

Mint, boxed + accessory should be 1500.
The shops here even make price distinctions between R-D1 and R-D1s !!!

Mine will not leave the house for these prices - it is still far to nice, to shoot from time to time.

Two months ago I bought my R-D1 (upgraded to an R-D1s) from a nice British chap on RFF. The camera is not mint, but EX in KEH terms. It came with two batteries, a charger and a 2 GB SD card for 880 USD. The USD has gotten a bit stronger against the GBP since then, but I think the seller was motivated at that time, so I bought it immediately and now I wouldn't sell it for $1200. I agree with previous posters, your camera should bring more, perhaps near $1500. What other DRF options are there?

Ah, yes forgot about it being an "optical based RF" ! Worth its weight in gold...
 
I recently happened to show my RD1s to a dealer in Sydney.
He mentioned they'd never been offered in Australia and as such if he had a mint one to sell he'd price it at $1800AUD, which is just over $1500US.
I wasn't selling, I was actually buying a couple of filters, but I thought it was an interesting conversation.
