How much should a new 50mm pre-asph Summilux (built-on hood) go for?

$1500 from Tony Rose at www.popflash.com. I got mine from Tony, and he's been great every time I've dealt with him.
Per the shopping I just did, used nice condition pre asph lens are found regularly around $1500, a good deal aroumd $1250. For this particular lens I don't think you will find too many in "user" condition. They are not that old and many are shelf queens. New old stock I found them between $1500 and $2000.
I opted for an older version from KEH in bargain condition which was close to Dan's price.

Looking again, in used condition perhaps his prices are not off too much for the older version. But I did not find any of the lens you are looking for under $1,000 and most were 100s more.

funny you say that Rover, I too am in the market for a used late model 50 'lux and have found prices have jumped in the last few months - I attribute this to the M8 users, seriously. Late model pre Asph 'lux's are getting very difficult to find at a good price ( under a grand )...however, one recently sold on the LUG for $ 950.......
The older models are creeping up in price too, BUT, almost everyone wants a late model with built-in hood.

I've been seeing prices hover around $1400-1500 for EX condition. Calumet has new old stock for $1999.
I just emailed them to ask about their stock, but I really would prefer silver.... I just don't know if I would spend another $300 to get it.
I wouldn't mind the version 2 and actually prefer it a little bit because the built-in hood doesn't snap into place. I just haven't seen many for sale lately.

Good thinking. Leica do a lousy job with the built in hoods, the only one that locks is on the 75/2 Summicron. If like me you like the look of the older 50mm lenses the 75/2 is actually a good additional lens to have. Pictures from it look like they came from a 50 and take 2 steps back and you have a 50mm FOV. It focuses to 0.7M and seems to be the 50/1.4 ASPH at 75mm in terms of look. A very good alternative to a 50mm, and with a 35mm you have everything you need on the street.ForeverUnknown said:I wouldn't mind the version 2 and actually prefer it a little bit because the built-in hood doesn't snap into place. Bergen County Camera has a few used pre-ASPH 'Luxes w/o the integral hood, priced in the 10-12 range. They also have some NOS pre-ASPH w/ the integral hood. Prices I think were $2k or more - you'd have to call to confirm. (I don't have any connection to BCC, just happen to have been looking at their used list.)
I think the "market data" for the 50mm 'Lux is a little uneven because, as I think Gandy's website points out, it was actually a relatively low-production lens.

Thanks. I just sent an email to them.
So while I'm waiting on hearing back from a few stores, I'm also looking at a silver v3 on ebay for $1499. Open box but condition is LN. Hopefully no one else buys it yet!
I'm not sure about the 75. In SLR, I love shooting 85, so I've been eyeing the 90 Cron. They had one on KEH in silver for $890 and someone bought it before me. Oh well! But anyway, 75 does seem like it would be a nice compromise between 50 and 90, and though it's very expensive alone, the cost for 50 and 90 almost equal it. It's just difficult to spend that much on a single lens.

While the warranty card is unfilled in that auction, would the warranty still be usable?

Keep in mind that only the version with the built in, collapsible hood focuses as close as .7 meters (70cm). All other versionsof the pre-ASPH focus to 1 meter (100cm).

Right, I always forget that. Closer min distance is always welcome. Hmm I don't know if I should pull the trigger on that Ebay listing. Again not sure if I want to spend another $300 just for a silver lux. I think I'll wait until tomorrow or so to hear back from a couple of stores.

I have a lead on a chrome v3 for $1350 after shipping and PP fees. I think I'll go for that one since it's not too bad to spend another $100 to get the color I want.

I am looking at a black paint version 3 that has literally no marks of use and is in the box with papers, etc. Any price data for these?

KEH.com (no relation) has a silver LTM version at $1669. What do people know about this version? -- seems a little exotic.
