if you truly have to be concerned with depreciation on an item of gear, meaning it's a significant amount for you and the gear isn't going to be generating any income, probably best not to buy it. it is not a source of enjoyment to go out shooting with gear that reminds you how much it costs to have it around.

It's a different world out there now. Generally, the new gen have no hang ups about worth and depreciation. They couldn't care less. They buy, they use, they throw it away.

The way Polaroid cameras had battery packs inside a film pack can be appalling by today's standard...
