Printing on Rag Paper with Epson R2400

I am having a problem when printing on my Epson R2400. When I print from photoshop 7, using a heavy weight rag paper, setting the printer driver to print warm toned print and sheet feeding from the front of the printer, I get what appears to be an very visible "overspray" of ink at the very bottom of the horizontally printed image. The top and side borders of the image are sharper and cleaner but still have a slight "overspray" when exmamining under a loop. Does anyone know why this is occuring and how I can resolve this issue? I have had no problems printing on thinner paper stock (Epson enhanced matte) that I fed through the top of the printer thus far.

It sounds like the print head is rubbing against the paper, kind of smearing it. This happened to me with...some 300gsm or so paper on my 1280. The weird part was that it happened when I had the print head set for thicker paper, but _not_ when it was set as normal. I wonder if having it on the thicker paper setting allowed it to bend up slightly or something. So, assuming you've already tried it with the print head raised, try one with it lowered.

Thanks, I figured it out with help from someone on photo.net. You can't apparently load thick sheet paper from the front on the R2400. I had to attach the "single sheet feeder" on the rear and set the printer to print on "manual-roll". That worked! I guess you have three options for where to feed the paper depending on what the paper is! Epsons lame tech support told me it was because I wasnt using Epson papers!
