problem in b&w develope

I developed a roll of TRIX yesterday, almost the full roll turns out with this white boundary, some are better, some worse, any ideas about this?
I was using an AP bottle and it should be fine. I used d-76 full strength at 23 degree c, 5.75 mins. i used water instead of indicator stopper. and flush the film about 2mins after fixer.

if the pictures are scanned, the problem is with the scanner. If the film is curled, this is the way pictures look (from my own experience). Once you flatten it, you'll see no more problems.

i just checked, the film itself has dark boundaries, so should it be ...?

sorry, forgot to say, it's 35mm film. but i will remember your words when develop some 120.

Other than curved film, I am not seeing a problem inside the frame. Outside the frame, it does not look like a piece of 35mm film.

Can you scan the edge of the film with the sprocket holes? It does not have to be a high resolution scan, or even in focus. If you have a flat bed scanner, you can usually just place the film on the surface of the scanner and put a piece of glass on top to keep it flat.

(for reference if you want a "good" scan, use Anti-Newton ring glass, but for the purposes of this test, don't bother. This is common practice with large format film, for quick scans).

thanks a lot degruyl, but unfortunately, it is a 35mm Tri-X and it is a film scanner with a sandwich-like loader, besides, I can see the dark sides on the films just by eyes without any scanning.

We'd need to see how the film is affected all the way to the edges to be sure - but it appears, from your description and example, to be uneven development. Something in your development set-up is giving the edges more development than the center. I suspect the agitation. What kind of tank and reels are you using?

Probably either a light leak on the camera, a light leak during development, or something went wrong with the chemistry (something to do with developer staying on one part of the film longer or something…)
