Problem mounting 28 elmarit asph.

Hi to all. I finally got a 28mm elmarit asph. from the classifieds here(thank you Retow!!!) and found that it will not mount on my M3. This lens has it's red dot a lot closer to the mount flange, and the dot hits the lens release button and the guard around the release, and cannot be turned to mount on the camera. My question is can the dot be removed without damaging the lens in a major way, and if so how? Thanks to all who reply!!!

People loose `em all the time. Lens still works. Replace with CA glue or 5 min epoxy.

I wonder if the red dot has been replaced with a larger one at some time. My 28 works fine on all of my M-cameras.

This dot is usually glued on and can be removed. You may however damage the dot when trying to remove it..
