Recently I took my 1st pics with my "new" F. I used a hood and Kanto battery adapters/ proper batteries w/ Kodak Gold 100. As you can see the outdoor results are horrible. Light leaks? bum lens? Bad film? Meter?

Curiously, a couple of pics on the same roll taken inside under flourescent lights turned out good.

Any advice?

Could you tell us more about the batteries and adaptors? I wonder if the adaptors were for use with silver cells and had alkaline cells in, or something like that.. Or the blades could be sticky, I think the F has no needle shown in the viewfinder, so if it's sticky you can't tell like you can with the G for example. In needle capture cameras with a needle display, you can see the needle not move right and you know something is wrong.
If the shutter/diaphram blades are sticky the diaphram is stuck full open I think, or close to it, making the depth of field shallow and the exposure way too much.

Maybe the indoor shots that were better because the meter would have chosen wide open anyway.

With the back open and film out, see how the diaphram and shutter openings/times work as the camera is fired at different intensity light sources..

I think the F is quite a bit different from the G with the F having the electronic shutter and all. However, the G, when meter is not working, defaults to 1/30th and f2.8, perhaps yours is somehow stuck in the default mode, with some electronics or meter not working?

Ampguy/ Clintock:

I'm using two Kanto/ C.R.I.S adapters and silver oxide batteries. That combo works in my other cameras OK.

You may be right--the shots indoors showed VERY slow shutter speeds (slightly blurred person who was moving at the time of the shot)! I think it's a trip to the repair guy for meter/ shutter check.

Many thanks
