Just had a serious ordering problem with B&H, a trusted name in photo circles.

Problem: responded to an ad for lens and finder; placed order, when checked order in email order was without finder. Called B & H, explained the problem, and the only option they gave me was to cancel the order--which I did.

So, beware when dealing with B&H--a name I had trusted.

Has anyone had similar issues with this dealer?

For me, no problems ever. Many purchases from B&H, all excellent....

Was this in regards to a used item? Their used inventory is huge, and second-hand goods are much more difficult to catalogue and track than new. Sorry to hear there was an issue with your order- but I wouldn't write them off yet just because of this one incident.

B&H is the only trusted source i would use, specially for used, they have a fair 30 day return…. for whats its worth from my experiences.

They made a mistake. Their business and store is massive. It happens.

That's exactly it. No 'dire warnings' are appropriate. If you've ever been there, you'd understand. The operation is massive. It's as professional an environment in retailing as you'll find. Pick any company, anywhere, and you'll find someone who has experienced a 'mistake' with them. Doesn't mean the company is incompetent or corrupt.

If your order contains both new and used items it may come in separate shipments due to their used warehouse is in a different location than the retail store. Not saying that was the case here just something to be aware of.

For all you know the finder was in the box and not listed in the email.
the smart thing to do would have been to wait and open the package and see.
if the there was no finder in box B&H would have gladly accepted your return and refunded your money.
They really are a topnotch outfit

The sky is not falling. You should have waited for the package to make sure. If you have a real (not imagined) issue you can contact Henry Posner at B&H, who can act as your advocate. I also trust Adorama--their online customer advocate is Helen Oster. Both Henry and Helen are very responsive via email.

Been dealing with B&H since 1993, they are the best, that's all there is to it.

As mentioned above, their whole operation is HUGE, including their Used Department. In the twenty plus years I've been shopping there they have not once failed to make something right if there was a problem.

I HIGHLY recommend B&H for any and all your photography needs.

B & H is very good.

Recently, I notice, when I place an order, it immediately tells me when it will arrive at my home!

Bought from them for over 10 years and each time a positive experience.

Sorry yours was different.

The only issue I have with B&H is wishing they would move near my house. Been buying from them for 30 or so years. Service is always excellent. Have they goofed up ever? Of course, they are run by humans. But they always clear things up ASAP. Please be careful with trashing a business as the bad word spreads like wildfire. have a good day.🙂

Never an issue. Matter of fact, once I ordered a camera and the following week I see it for $75 less! I e-mailed them and they said the ad was a mistake (which it was). They refunded me $75 even though I didn't have it coming to me!

Sorry, but if that is your definition of a serious problem than you have led one of the most charmed lives to have ever existed since the dawn of time.

I think I will contact Henry Posner. If I owned or managed B&H, I would want this information.

Best regards

Move on. If B&H cannot be supported, then no major camera store in the USA can be trusted. It was a minor error in the ad, and life is like this. Human error is around us everywhere.

Yes, I've had problems with B&H used dept. and with Mr. Posner (years ago). I no longer buy from them.
-Used Nikon body with ripped curtain, specifically request USA warranty items and get grey market ones ...
For a time some demo Leica items w/ 1 year warranty, turned out to be refurbished.
