Hi guys,
I finally got my silver ZI that I bought less than a week ago from another forum member. A lovely camera that I hope will make me happy

One strange thing, I cannot mount my collapsible cron on it. I'm not talking about collapsing the lens into it, just mounting.
I wrote a thread in the Leica forum, you're welcome to have a look

any comment would be welcome
cheers

I have a few missmatches myself with just Leica gear. A 21 2.8 pre ASPH will not go on one of my early M3`s, but it goes on eight other M cameras. There is a Viso 3 that is very had to lock on any M. I retired it and used a reps demo one I purchesed in 1986. That locks on perfectly and should last the rest of my life.

A competent repair person can address the issue. I am sure it is a question of either adjustment in the mount or tolerence stack up in the two pieces somewhere.

Thank you Ronald,
I asked Don from DAG cameras about it and he said that there might be a mismatch in the flange and the only way he can help me is to send him both camera and lens for inspection.
Since I have to send the gear overseas in order to do that, I'm thinking of an alternative...

OK, I think that only the camera manufacturer can know the answer to this bizzare question.
Does anybody know the right destination for these questions in Zeiss or CV?

thanks

Have you been able to mount any other lenses on your Ikon? Have you mounted your lens on any other M cameras?

Before sending the two out, perhaps you could try this out with a fellow RF user in Israel.

If there is a problem with mounting lenses on the Ikon contact Cosina/Zeiss, if there is a problem with the lens or the combination of the two then DAG would be your best bet - I don't think Cosina/Zeiss would try and resolve why the 50+ year old lens does not mount on the contemporary Ikon without asking for money and that money would be better spent with someone with experience in old Leica lenses.

Hi Kully,
the cron mounted easily on my CL and many Leica M's of previous owner. It didn't mount on the ZI and on R3A.
All the rest of my lenses mount easily on the ZI.

I might try the cron on the ZI of a friend.

Cosina has nothing to do with Zeiss ZM repair and warranty service. My camera was serviced in Germany by Zeiss. I live in the US and Zeiss USA sent the camera to Germany. It may be that cameras owned by customers in Asia are serviced by Cosina in Japan, but I would be surprised if the service was not administrated by Zeiss.

Enquiries can be sent to Cosina directly, but you're probably better off sending any enquiries written in English to Zeiss.

A few months ago I sent two ZM 50/1.5 Sonnars to the Cosina factory in Nagano for optimisation to f/1.5. They did a perfect job, and I had the lenses back within a week. However, for repairs under warranty, the normal thing to do is send the camera/lens etc. in for repair via the shop where it was purchased.

As for the problem with the collapsible cron not mounting on the ZI body, it sounds like something that some light filing somewhere on the lens mount might fix, but its hard to know for sure without looking at both the camera and lens.

Hope you get the problem sorted out, Assaf!
