Hi everyone,

I just bought a CV 15mm and have identified some potential problems with it. I'd like some opinions on whether these are sufficient to warrant returning the lens.

Firstly, the focusing ring is a bit loose - it can be moved slightly from side to side without actually moving the elements. Could this be a heat expansion issue and the fit will improve?

Secondly, when using a CV 28-90 screw-bayonet adapter on an R-D1, the focusing and aperture alignment dots don't line up at 12 o'clock on the camera. Same on an M6. The main issue with this is the hood is not aligned properly and may vignette on the M6.

Any opinions/ideas?

Thanks,
Nick

Nick sorry but I think I would return this lens, my 15mm was bought in 1999, and even after heavy use has not developed any looseness in the focus ring!! also with the voigtlander screw to M adaptor it lines up perfectly with the focus cursor at 12 o'clock. It does not line up correctly on my Fed Zarya, and consequently I do get a bit of vignetting!!
When you get a new one you will not be disappointed with the results, it is a superb lens. It was this lens that got me into CV equipment. I originally bought it for my Leica CL!!

I have several VC adapters and none of them line up on my M bodies, several members have posted here about that issue.

If the loosness bothers you I would send it back, mine is tight and I live in Houston Texas, 98 degrees and 100% Humidity 🙂

That is my experience as well, it seems to be all over the place on different M bodies. But they all work, no focusing problems.
