i've just been out with my electro 35 gtn and after taking a couple of photos it died on me. The lights have stopped working and on pressing the battery check button the indicator doesn't light up. I've checked the battery by putting it in my mg-1 and it works in there so it looks like i have a problem with the electro.

I'd be gratefull for any help in getting the 35gtn up and running again as i much prefer it to the mg-1

What battery are you using? If using an adapter for the newer but smaller sized batteries are you sure it is passing current to the camera? If you are using the tin foil and paper spacing style adapter again are you sure it is actually getting energy to the system? What do the contacts look like? In the camera body and on the screw on lid. They should be clean and putting a few scratches on both in a cross hatch patteren with an exacto knife wouldn't hurt either. Do you know what the contacts look like?

If you are sure of your power source and its ability to deliver energy to the camera then I think you need to look inside at the voltage path and see where it went south. This is not something I would want to do but there are others here who do so on a regular basis.

What say you Electro Gurus?

Thanks for the reply. I know that the battery and adaptor are fine as they work perfectly in the MG-1. I've tried using the battery cover from the GTN in the MG-1 and that works too so no problem there. When i first got the GTN the battery connection inside the GTN was pretty corroded but i cleaned it up and the camera has been working perfectly up until now.

I think that the problem must be with the connections inside, perhaps someone can give me some ideas.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions

My Electro GS worked fine when I first put a new battery in it ... then it also decided to quit

After taking it apart the problem was very obvious, the wires that connected to the battery housing had oxidized to the point that they were hanging on by a strand.

After a little soldering ... put the battery and adapter back in... been working perfectly ever since!!!!

Yashica Guy on his website shows how to take apart the top of the camera to reveal the wiring.

but before you go ahead and do it, just make sure that your getting proper contact inside the battery chamber; I know if the spring in mine moves off just a little of the connector then I will have to reset the spring and adapter. No big deal, just a hassle ... but the connection has to be clean!!!
