In backlit situation and indoor with several artificial light sources, the rangerfinder patch of my M6 TTL become very bright that I could not do the focus at all. Does anyone has tried the SHADE from www.leicagoodies.com ?

Does the SHADE has the same result of sending my M6 to have it upgraded to MP's RF? The SHADE costs about US$13 while the Leica upgrade is a few hundres USD. All comments / advices are welcome.

Thanks,
SWATCH

Hi Swatch,

no experience with the Leicagoodies patch, if they are active again just oder one and try it. Otherwise the RF update by Leica or the usual suspects in combination with an overhaul/CLA might be a good idea. I had my M6 upgraded and I never ahd the flare problem again. There is plenty to read on this topic. Just search the Leica M posts.

I use the shade. Don't know how it compares to the upgrade but it works fine for me. I no longer have the flare problem and can shoot in any lighting conditions without problems.

I've got two "shades" i've never used but did spend the money to upgrade to the MP rangefinder optics whilst removing the 90 and 135 framelines from my M6
