Problems with PC synch port on Lynx14e

My lynx is in fantastic good nick, optics is perfect, meter works, times are correct, RF is spot on and bright, all in all in very good shape. BUT! the synch port won't work! I've tried cleaning it with anti-corroding agent on a q-tip and tried scraping it with a tight pc-cord but I can't the little critter to work. Any suggestions?

It's on x, so it's no x-m thing either.

Does this happen often? Any guides to disassembling the lynx anywhere? Googling doesn't give much info.

Edit, yes it did. I will see if I dare look under the hood.
