Problems with the meter over exposing indoor

Is there anyone who experienced that the meter on the CL over exposes? Most of my photos are under-exposed. The camera is loaded with a new mercury battery.

When I compere with the meter on my DSLR I find it more accurate when shooting outside in daylight, but when I shoot indoor the CL misguides me with three steps.

I bought this camera last spring and it isn´t until recently that I have experienced this.

There are a few possibilites. One is that the camera ciruitry might have been modified to use with 1.5 volt alkaline batteries, which are slightly higher voltage. The 1.3 volt mercury batteries are no longer legal, at least in the U.S., but I'm not sure why that would cause a problem just in low light. It's also possible that the battery isn't as new as you thought. The other possibility is that the meter cell is on its last legs and needs to be replaced. Those CL's were made over 35 years ago! The meter in my CL is so out of whack that I pretend that it's a meterless camera

I went into to the camera store and had the battery checked. It is an old unused 1.3 volt mercury battery (They are banned here in Sweden as well). They checked both the battery and the meter in bright light and said it was ok. But the problem is when I shoot indoor. I guess then that it is the meter cell that needs to be replaced and this fact is first noticed in bad light. Perhaps it will within short over expose on a sunny day as well.

Too bad. I guess that replacing the cell can be done. Or I might buy a hand held meter or save up for a M6 instead.

I have a CL and once I used it at very low temperature (around -35C in Canadian winter). After that the meter started overexposing and eventually broke alltogether. The guy who fixed it claimed that probably the part of teh circuit that bend when the harm swing away started becoming weaker and that that initially changed the resistence or something causing the meter to overexpose and eventually broke, Not sure whether this was actually true but eventually I had to fix it!
