thinking of another winter being on it's way...weeks of -40c temps, blizzards of snow and wind...and the worsening arthritis in my hips and shoulders and hands...
and so visions of indoor projects start dancing into my mostly hairless head...
projects...my cute little pup...maybe some table top stuff...self portraits...maybe some nudes if i can find a willing model...

how about you other (northern) shooters?
any projects in mind?

A little off topic, but for those looking for projects or ideas, Aperture released a book titled "The Photographer's Playbook" which has 307 assignments each contributed by tons of photographers. They are all over the place and there has to be something that will spark some interest.

At some point you should consider moving for one winter.
Take a job in a warmer climate.
Seriously... the opportunities are out there and photo projects usually come built in :)

Wet printing. Trying new things, reprinting old not so good ones. Because it is dark at 4PM I don't have to wait to get started after coming from work. Did it once and will do again. Good if I have to stay inside.
My wife have some ideas for portraits, which are good at the dark, but we aren't going nude for it :)

Still lifes AROUND A THEME, i.e. not random pictures.

Addendum: -40C? Below the freezing point of mercury? That's chucking filly.

Cheers,

R.

i actually don't mind the cold...though my body has a harder and harder time with it...

been there done that...no more wet printing for me!

Hey Joe,

I think you should try several things until something sticks. Find something that you feel a passion for and just do it. It can be tough to get motivated when it is so cold out.

I am usually not as busy with commercial work around the holidays so I try and get out on the streets when the weather gets bad but it isn't as easy as it once was LoL....

actually maybe a major edit with the idea of a book to follow...i find editing a slow process so maybe good for our long winters.

A project I've been thinking about, and I'm not sure if it's been done before:
It would be a diptych project of sorts. Scanning two side-by-side negs. Ideally with sprocket holes (for idk ... the sake of proof). Idea being, if nothing more, observing where my camera went between shooting those two frames. Maybe from the luxuriating beach, to back sitting at my mundane work desk. Or maybe not far at all.

Of course, most of the time it would be crap next to crap :)
