Pronunciation?

I was corrected last year by a long time Retina collector and repairman, "its Reteena", he said as he gave me a look over. I had just inherited my IIC and it hadn't been used since 1970. I brought the camera to him for a CLA quote. Reteena sounds better than Rehtina anyway, I vote RetEEna!

Well, there ya go.

Now did you pronounce your request for a "clean-lube-adjust" estimate "clay", or "clah"? :D

Seriously, I only posted the query after recalling my own encounter with a "TEEN-a" adherent to try and see how deep the difference between usage of the US vs. German pronunciations runs.

Personally, I just say "IIa" or "IIIc"... Yeah, re-TEEN-a sounds better to me, too, but I ain't throwin' any rotten toMAHtoes at REHT-ina speakers...

I use the Romance language pronunciation, which makes it intelligible outside the United States.

I don't use enough retsina.

Here's a goodie...

(Brought to you by the how do good threads go bad people... :D)

I favour the former.

Whe in doubt AND the US, like Paul Simon. The Simonized Version: "I gotta Nigh-Con cam'ra; I love to take fo-o-o-to-grafs...." etc.

Elsewhere, who knows?

BTW, heard about the 25 f/1.0 M-mount? "Sumo-Cron".

I'm in the reht-nuh camp. It honestly never occured to me that it would be pronounced any different than the bit of the eyeball, and that's how my strange hybrid accent renders the eyeball bit.

"...it's spelled Luxury-Yacht, but it's pronounced Throat-Warbler-Mangrove"

"I'm in the reht-nuh camp..."
which brings up the question is an avid collector a "reht-nut" or a "retinite"?
