With all the mystic about John Lennon, its great to see a story showing that he was only human after all.

Taste is all in the mouth. The quad lamp 330 was, and still is, wonderful. It outsold the dual lamp variant. I have spent time with the 250 and 330, writing about them for The Ferrari List about ~15 years ago.
 
For 1965 that is a pretty nice car. In '65 there was the Corvette and sup'd jalopies. The Mustang was 641/2/'65. The Camaro was 1966. There was the Triumph. I think that car was a pretty good choice.

Against Aston Martin? E-Type Jaguar? Healey 3000? AC Greyhound? Daimler Dart? In those days, understandably few people who fancied fast cars and liked turning corners were at all interested in American automobiles, unless they lived in the USA.

It may be one of the ugliest Ferrari's, but it's still a beauty!

That's actually really cool! I'm not a huge Beatles fan, but I am a fan of Clapton and Hendrix (and the Experience). Anyone read the Clapton biography? Shortly after Clapton and Pattie Boyd got married she threw a party to celebrate their wedding. Being a performer with lots of performer friends, there was a stage and anyone who wanted to go perform was welcome to. Quoted directly from the book:

George, Paul, and Ringo also played, only missing John, who later phoned me to say he would have been there too if he had known about it. How that came about, I'll never know; suffice to say I had little to do with the invitations; but a great opportunity was lost for the Beatles to reform for one last performance.

It's cuter than my first car, a kinda cool 1947 Chevy coupe, with a custom grill and a leaded hood. I have to say, though, there were a lot uglier cars for sale new when Lennon bought that car.
 
I'm not into cars and let alone classic cars but was this Ferrari known for being a black sheep? I really do not understand the claim for this car being ugly.
 
Come on. You're 24 years old. It's 1965. This car is the choice of someone who neither knows nor cares much about cars. There've been plenty of ugly Ferraris (including some uglier) but this one offers an unusual combination of ugly and bland. Maybe he liked the engine note.
