So I got my self a time capsule IIIf ST (still had a roll of long leader Kodachrome in it when I bought it) - and it was mounted with a slightly "incorrect" earlier post war, non red scale 5cm 3.5 Elmar and hood, but no cap. What's the "correct" cap for it? I've seen the simple domed cap, and the one with the slight quarter sized raised center portion

Thanks

Hi,

Years ago I had that problem and found an article with pictures about Leicas and FEDs in a 1941 magazine. That led me to track down and buy this lens cap but I can't say if it lasted until the late 40's.

PS And FED modelled some on it.

Hi,

I try to get my outfits exactly as they would be if I was around and rich at the time. Usually the little things like lens caps (front and rear) and instruction books break my bank, and heart at times...

So I'll wish you luck and good hunting. And I'll offer some advice, don't ever buy a pre-war Contax or Exakta as getting those outfits right really does cost an arm and a leg. And the research can take years as trivia like that is seldom shown in old magazines.

Regards, David
