Forgive my newbieness, but what's GAS?

Is it like some compulsory spending incident? {snip}
Hmmm - Compulsory Spending Incident...

That's a good one for the better half! 😉

Controllable? Sure! 😉

Barely manageable... 🙁

Peter, it's an Elmarit 28/2.8. Sure, there are choices (CV, Konica & Minolta, I know), but I already have a Konica Hexanon and found out that at infinite, the patch doesn't quite line up (by a hairline, not a lot). Never bothered me much until recently, when I was doing some night shots with the lens wide open and tungsten film. I wonder if my photo of a building will come in focus at f2...

In any case, it's a purchase that'll take a looooooooong time before occurring. Self imposed limits (proof that I can handle this for a couple of months). 🙂

Ooh nice Solares! 🙂 I do like the 28mm focal length. I've been using a Nikkor 28mm AIS with a Gandy adapter on my M but I got fed up with using the distance scale so I just got a Konica from an RFF member and so far it looks good.

About your 35mm: I was reading a while back on PN that someone got a Hexanon-M adjusted by DAG during a CLA, it was 0.05mm out but when it came back from DAG it focused perfectly. So if you do have a problem it can be fixed. I think that some of these Konica lenses do have focusing issues but it seems to be more of a tolerance issue more than anything else. It appears to depend on the particular lens/camera combination. I've had two Hexanon-M's previously (a 90 and a 35) and they were both fine on my M6TTL. Hope yours is OK...

Hmmm... Sounds like I should be planning to send my Hexanon to Don then.

But then... that means spending days away from my favorite Leica lens.

Thanks for the tip, anyway. I will contact Don and find out about this little job. Other than this little quirk, these lenses are a dream: very well built, and quite efficient. This isn't only my favorite focal length, it's my favorite lens!

In any event, you'll hear me holler when I get my Elmarit 28.
