Pulling HP5+

Hey,

I accidently shot a roll of HP5+ 400 at iso 100.

Does anyone know the development time in ID11 in order to pull it back? I tried the massive dev chart, but that only lists times for doing it at iso 200

Hi agour,

my recommendation would be not to try to "pull" too much: you do not want to end up with too flat contrast. You overexposed the film two stops, and HP5 can deal with that quite well. I would try to reduce your usual developing time by 30-40 percent or so, and you should be fine. Are you going to scan, or are you printing wet?,

Reduce your normal agitation to maintain highlight detail. I use 5 minutes for iso 100 when developing with Tmax dev 1:4 at 20c. Sorry I can't help with ID11 times. I like the results I get with the above combo. Reduced agitation helps a lot. HP5 can handle a fair bit of overexposure when using Tmax Dev is my experience. Likely you can use the suggested iso 200 times you found and be fine.

If you go to my website and go to the downloads page of the ZoneSimple section, you can get instructions for processing HP5 at ISO 100 – 6 minutes at 68˚ in Sprint or D76 1 to 1. You may want to do this more often once you see the results or even try ISO 25.

Im going to scan the negs, so I can fiddle it slightly in post if I have to.

Charlie, you dont seem to have linked your website! But yeah, I dont have sprint or d76 so it isnt too much use.

Ill go for the 200 times then, and do 3 agitations per minute instead of my usual 4. Im new to devloping my own film, so still learning all the ropes. Hopefully the negs will come out resonable, Ill let you know!

ID11 is the same as the D76.

Doh! I didnt realise.

Oh well!

The film came out fine in the end. Maybe there would be some flaws to an expert, but for me the results were acceptable.
